I'll be dutiful this week so I won't feel so bad about stuffing my face with stuffing on Thursday.

	I was in San Francisco last week and was reminded how beautiful it is.  That's Alcatraz on the right and Lombard Street, "The Crookedest Street in the World", below.    I was speaking at a conference and wished I had more time, but alas...in and out in two days with little time for sight-seeing or shopping.    I did get to indulge myself with some delicious oysters and had an absolutely delightful conversation with some wonderful women from Chicago I met in the restaurant while waiting for a friend from Oakland to join me.
	The sight of Alcatraz got me thinking about honesty, integrity and conscience.  The concepts were further reinforced later in the week while walking around the Riverwalk in San Antonio. (It was a busy travel week!) I saw a couple with a little girl, about 5 years old, in tow.  She had stopped to admire some blooming flowers.  When I first noticed her, she was pulling one

of the flowers off - as a souvenir of sorts.  

Her parents were watching her until they noticed that I was also watching her.  At that point, they started gently admonishing her about not damaging the plant, leaving the beauty for others to enjoy, etc.

I thought to myself, 'Are they only giving this lesson because I'm watching?'.  Had I not been there, would they have let the little girl keep the flower?

I wasn't really judging, just watching.  I didn't really care if she took the flower or not. But it got me thinking about the barometers we use to make decisions, to decide what is 'right'.  How strong is your internal barometer?  Do you do the right thing when no one is watching?  Or are other people your conscience, keeping you in line?

I think it's human to be self-indulgent. I can certainly be that way.  When we are actively pursuing our highest personal destiny however, we're likely more conscious of our internal conscience. So this week, stay focused on & in tune with your highest self.

"You cannot teach a man anything. You can only help him discover it within himself."

Most are less than 12 minutes.  Close your door and eyes and regain your sanity in less time that it takes to drink a cup of coffee. Use the longer one to fall asleep at night.
